As a St. Patrick High School alumnus and professional photographer, capturing the final games of our basketball season offered a unique blend of nostalgia and artistic challenge. The last two games, pivotal in defining St. Patrick's season, were a showcase of athleticism and emotion, framed perfectly for memorable photography. A historical season, with the best basketball finish in school history, IHSA 3A third place. 

The semifinal game, although resulting in a loss to Brother Rice, was filled with moments that highlighted St. Patrick’s resilience and skill. My focus was on capturing the intense expressions and dynamic movements that defined the game. Photos from this game emphasized the high stakes involved, with close-ups on players' focused faces and wide shots that captured the full court's frantic energy.

In the battle for third place against Glenwood, the determination of St. Patrick’s team to clinch a victory was palpable. This game allowed for a different photographic approach, focusing more on the victory and the team’s effective coordination. Celebratory moments post-victory were especially poignant, capturing the joy and relief of the players. These images not only celebrated the win but also the spirit and unity of the team.

Throughout these games, my aim was to document not just the action, but the stories behind each play. The photographs serve as a testament to the team's hard work and the emotional journey throughout the season. For the St. Patrick community, these images are more than just visual keepsakes; they are a powerful reminder of the team’s dynamic season and their spirited run in the state championships. Being an alumnus of both the University, where the State Finals took place, and the high school competing in it, was memorable like no other.
